Hello and welcome back to another episode of Podcasting Tips and Tricks. I am your host, Lyndall Harris, and this podcast is brought to you by Podcast VA, where we help simplify your podcasting journey. If you’ve ever wondered if starting a podcast could be beneficial for your business, then you’ll want to tune into this episode. Today, we’re going to explore five ways podcasting can transform your business, and you’ll learn how you too can integrate podcasting into your business marketing to benefit from this amazing platform that is available to everybody, both seasoned and new business owners alike.

[0:55]Whilst podcasting isn’t new by any means, the first podcast was actually published back in 2004. In recent years, it has really boomed and emerged as quite a significant marketing activity in the business landscape. It’s a really unique platform for businesses to share their stories, showcase their expertise, and build those intimate connections with listeners all over the world.

[1:23]From small businesses to large brands, podcasting has proven to be a really powerful tool, not just for reaching new customers, but also to really engage with them on a personal level. And that’s something that is much more beneficial than traditional marketing activities. If you’re thinking it’s too late to start a podcast or that podcasting is a saturated market, then go back and listen to episode 31 titled, should I start a podcast in 2024 or is it too crowded? Because I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear the statistics. In summary, there’s a lot less podcasts to compete with than there are blogs, books, YouTube channels, et cetera. And podcasting has made such a huge difference to my business. Now, I know I am a podcast consultant and my business is about podcasting, but for a long time, I didn’t have a podcast. And when I did launch my podcast, I saw an increase in leads and clients. I saw an increase of people into my podcasting community. And even again, when I relaunched this season in 2024, there has definitely been an increase leads and an increase in revenue and also other opportunities, including speaking engagements and podcast interviews and collaborating with other podcasters.

[2:52]Now, let’s take a look at five ways podcasting can transform your business. Number five, it can expand your network and collaboration opportunities. Podcasts really can open the doors to new relationships like few other platforms can. If you interview guests and invite them onto your show, it allows you to connect with them in a much more intimate setting, and it also expands your network. And each of those guests bring their own audience to the podcast as well, which can then increase your listener base. And not only that, these relationships could then lead to other collaborations that you may not have even thought possible. And it’s much easier to build that intimate relationship through a podcast than it is other marketing channels.

[3:48]Number four boosting traffic and seo by integrating your podcast onto your website you’re encouraging visitors to come to your website and stay longer and listen in on the embedded audio player which search engines love additionally you’re sharing backlinks to your site and by using relevant keywords in both your audio and your show notes you can improve your site’s search engine optimization, helping new listeners and potential clients find you online.

[4:23]Number three, it’s a really cost-effective marketing tool. Unlike other forms of media, starting a podcast doesn’t require a huge investment. If you can get yourself some basic recording equipment and get a good space to record quality audio, you can produce content that has the potential to reach an audience globally. [4:46]Plus, podcasts offer longevity. longevity your episodes will remain accessible and continue to reach new listeners and drive traffic long after they are published and this is where your marketing comes in and remembering to republish old episodes if they are evergreen and not only republishing but repurposing those episodes into other marketing activities as well

Number two positioning yourself and or your brand as an industry leader. Podcasts are a fantastic platform for sharing your expertise and insights. Every episode is an opportunity for you to showcase your knowledge and really help your audience. Whether you’re solving common problems, sharing the latest industry news or trends, storytelling, sharing case studies, or bringing guest experts, you’re really reinforcing your your credibility. And over time, your podcast can become a go-to resource within your industry, which sets you apart from your competition.

[5:56]And number one is the relationship and personal connection you build with your audience. Podcasts are great for you to talk directly to your audience, almost like you’re having a one-to-one conversation. And that personal approach really helps you build a deeper connection than you might achieve through the traditional marketing methods that aren’t as personalized. Think about sharing stories, your insights, or even behind the scenes into your business. It’s those sorts of things and those genuine interactions that will really build that trust and loyalty, making your listeners feel like they are part of your business journey and they know you. Have you ever listened to a podcast enough times that you feel like you know the host? I have been in so many situations over the years and particularly noticing it in the podcasting industry where I hear people say that they feel like they know me or they feel like they know the host or I feel like I know the host because I’ve listened to quite a few of their podcast episodes.

And that is one of the reasons I really love podcasting.

[7:11]So there you have it. We’ve just explored five transformative ways podcasting can drive your business forward, from deepening those customer relationships to expanding your market reach. If this resonates with you and you’re considering how you could integrate them into your own business model, think about what unique content you could share. Who could you collaborate with? What sort of stories could you tell? And you might find that podcasting is the perfect next step for your business.
